Zhou also introduced other efforts, including cooperation with Internet firms, in building a smart transport management system, where all kinds of traffic data are collected and timely analyzed. The commission's Transportation Operations Coordination Center runs on 41 systems and real-time data collection of 6,000 items.
Zhou, who is also director of National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Collaborative Security Technology, warned around 70 to 80 percent of data breaches are related to internal causes. "More efforts are needed to protect data from external cyberattacks and solve data breach issues."
Zhou said that coal still accounted for 60 percent of primary energy consumption in China. But with the accelerating pace of urbanization, China needs more premium energy resources.
Zones tend to be dominated by companies that establish them, according to the report, prepared by the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation and the United Nations Development Program in China.
